Journal

FOR TODAY: March 9, 2009

Outside my window... My magnolia tree is in full bloom, dropping petals on the lawn.

I am thinking... About hungry kids and homeless people. Every time I wrap up in a warm blanket or eat good food.

I am thankful for... My husband and a marriage that gets sweeter by the year.

From the learning rooms... a ladybug, golf-ball "treasures," learning about us: our bodies, health, families, culture. Guppies and too-tall grass in our 'island ecosystem.'

From the kitchen... Nachos, grading papers...I wish I was making homemade shepherd's pie and the best snickerdoodles. Hmmm... maybe I will.

I am wearing... a long light-weight brown skirt edged in brown cotton lace and eyelet, and a pale pink tiny-flowered cotton blouse. I love pink and brown.

I am creating... a new habit: I've washed the dishes for 21 days in a row! Yay me!

I am going... to stay home.

I am reading... Psalms.

I am hoping... to make life more beautiful for people in my day.

I am hearing... the sound of no children.

Around the house...cleaning out a drawer (I hate to throw anything away, even if I haven't used it in 4 years!) Crunching on the carpet...I guess it's time to vacuum. Hey, it's a process. At least I'm washing the dishes!

One of my favorite things... Energy. And the images that the word, 'shimmer' conjures up.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
  • Spend more time in prayer/Bible reading.

  • Bake bread.

  • Another shooting range outing with J.
Here is picture thought I am sharing...

Hi Anwen,

Glad you stopped by and left a comment. I've been going through a lot of tests to figure out what's wrong with my stomach (it's not working very well...) and it hurts--waah! But life goes on--I guess that's what happens to some people when they eat to much processed and sugary foods.

Nice outfit; you like pink and brown? I've been into soft purple and brown lately with a touch of leopard print...

I've been thinking about the poor and oppressed lately too. Our church is starting a 3-year fund-raising program for the Dalit people of India and is asking everyone to commit to a certain amount--whatever God leads or asks of us...to make a sacrifice of something that means a lot to us...
we're using the money to build schools for them so they can rise out of lower than the lowest position of their cast system. God called the people in our church to use all the various gifts and resources He has blessed us all with to make a difference in their culture--exciting, huh? It's called the "Global Freedom" program which also covers local outreach ministries too. So their giving us opportunities to participate locally and globally. Their goal is to raise 23 million in 3 years! Please pray that God will use us for His glory to accomplish this part of His will...

Yes I don't wear pink very often, but I've loved pink and brown together, especially dusty warm rose and brown...mmm! That is very cool what your church is doing!!
