Valentine's Day

Ten years ago we were 17, and I was finishing my senior year in high school. J and I were just friends (with an understanding) and he asked me if I would like him to take me to my senior prom. Not being the type to relish wasted tux and limo-rental money, expensive dinners that I can't enjoy in a tight satin dress, and dance music that makes me blush, I said I'd rather not. "Oh good!" said J, with obvious relief. He had the same opinion of proms as I did! We ended up arranging an 'anti-prom' which involved jeans and t-shirts, stuffing ourselves at Hometown Buffet, and swinging at the park!

This Valentine's day, about ten years after our first date, my thoughtful husband took me to our outdoor shooting range (our 'park' these days...it is out in the country near a wildlife refuge, very open, and almost deserted on Saturday). Then back to Hometown Buffet for an "anti-Valentine's day dinner!" Too perfect!

Didn't you do your costume surprise at work for James? That sounded really fun...

He had the day off! I'm thinking about going later anyway, though...we'll see. Thanks!

How sweet.

It's funny that your man has a red beard like mine, and is an artist, too. Only my husband's beard is red, his hair is more sandy-colored, but everyone calls him a redhead because of it.
